About me

Nathalie Caris

I worked for multinational companies such as Gateway and United airlines in Dublin, Ireland and Quintiles in Paris for about ten years. I enjoyed talking and meeting people from all other the world during that fantastic period of time.

When my three children started school, I started teaching in primary schools. I taught English and German first to children, then all subjects for eight years and enjoyed every minute. I also met fantastic colleagues throughout fifteen establishments and discovered many different ways to teach. Teaching became important for me. I wanted to help young people become actors in their own lives and thus shape our society tomorrow. I also wanted to guide adults who are definitely willing to improve but hadn’t had the opportunity so far. Working with all ages really inspires me!

I have a Master’s degree in International Relations, Business and Languages, and a Master’s degree in Education, Teaching and Training. My aim is to be right there in real time to help you in a positive constructive way. As a teacher, I learn every day and I am still learning about many subjects to make lessons interesting. I really enjoy being creative: I set up new tools all the time in order to help my learners reach their goals and help them feel that they are amazing – because they are!

My favorite subjects :

More about psychosocial skills

Learning a language is learning to communicate in another way of thinking, and communication is deeply connected with psycho-social skills. This training I attended in 2019 consolidated the way I had been teaching so far. These skills are so useful at every level of learning, from school to the workplace. “Psychosocial skills”, as defined by the World Health Organization (WHO), “are the individual’s ability to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life.  In other words, it shows a person’s ability to maintain a state of mental well-being and demonstrate this in adaptive and positive behavior, while interacting with others and his or her culture and environment.”

More about multiple intelligence

This is a theory, which made me realized we could teach in a very positive and constructive way. I attended this training in 2014. It was first posited by Harvard developmental psychologist Howard Gardner in 1983 that suggests human intelligence can be differentiated into eight modalities: visual-spatial, verbal-linguistic, musical-rhythmic, logical-mathematical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, naturalistic and bodily-kinesthetic. The idea behind the theory of multiple intelligence is that people learn in a variety of different ways. Indeed, whether you like to use numbers, pictures and music, or you refer to the importance of social interactions, introspection, physical movement and being in tune with nature, this will help me to understand and adjust learning styles for you.

More about art

Over the years, I have realised that art is an integral part of language/communication in all societies. It can express our ideas and feelings in extraordinary ways, creating a bridge between different people and different cultures. Have you ever felt happier just after listening to music ? An emotional transfer is operating, creating a bridge between reality and art. Also, because you get emotional while being in touch with a piece of art, empathy develops. “Cognitive empathy, emotional empathy and compassionate empathy are key ingredients of successful relationships, because it helps us understand the perspectives, needs and intentions of others”, according to the Greater Good Science Center, a research institute that studies the psychology, sociology, and neuroscience of well-being. Also, according to Brené Brown, “Empathy is communicating that incredible healing message of ‘You’re not alone.'” Above all, art is a way to connect with others and to develop our brains’ abilities. Art helps us to be more attentive, open-minded and tolerant. It also improves our capacity to differentiate and memorise. A great ally for learning then…
