Adults

You will be immersed in the target language through active participation, assimilating the words, the grammar and phonetic rules in a natural way. English and French are living languages; you need to practice to understand them better. That’s why you will always speak more than me, as you are the one who is here to practise and feel more comfortable with the language. And you are the amazing learner!

I will guide you to understand how the English/French language works. This will give you insight into the way native speakers think. You will then be able to choose the words and phrases to speak naturally.

I will tell you where you stand and where you need to improve.

I will tell you about the common mistakes French speakers make when speaking English or non-native speakers make when they speak French.

I use the material we are looking at to introduce you to new structures or commonly used vocabulary.

Material

I use international news or any other materials related to real life contexts. Exploring international news in another language is a great way to leave behind your mother tongue and way of thinking to see how people live and think elsewhere on the planet. It’s a way to travel and escape from your day-to-day life and to keep your mind open to others. Getting to know a culture encourages you to go and meet people in a more relaxed way, or to watch a documentary/film with a better understanding – all of which will improve your English/French. Materials include videos, articles, art, clips from films, audios and books.

Teenagers

Motivating your teenager to learn English is sometimes not that easy…but for sure, they are amazing learners! Through practice that utilises what they know while at the same time gently expanding their knowledge, they will become confident speakers with an active interest in the language.

I will guide your teenagers and get them speaking as much as possible. What they need to understand is that the only mistake is…not speaking! Errors are all acceptable and can be corrected very quickly while practising. We just need to find a way to make English part of their life. It’s like practising sport. The more you practice, the more you get results. With all the English material relating to sports/activities/hobbies we have access to online, I am confident that we will definitely find a way for your teenager to make a connection between the English language and what they really like.

Children (4-12)

I will help your child experience the English language through stories, games, role plays and puppets – all this in a real life context together with Health and Sustainable Development education. I have taught English to young children for eight years and found many different approaches, tools and materials to entertain them. They may not speak right away, but they will definitely hear and remember words, situations, atmosphere, intonation…as long as they are entertained! And this will open up their mind to a new world.
